Q: What about sports?
A: MSHSL has now released that Volleyball and Football seasons will be moved to the Spring, in between Basketball and other Spring sports. They have also stated that Spring sports, Volleyball, and Football practices may be permitted in the Fall. No information regarding the logistics or details on how either will work has been released but we will keep you informed as information comes in.

Q: Will hand sanitizer be available to students?
A: Yes, we have ordered hand sanitizer dispensers for each classroom as well as around various other parts of the building and offices. The elementary classrooms also are equipped with sinks and soap dispensers in each room. In addition, regular hand washing will be required throughout the day, i.e. before lunch, after recess, etc.

Q: Will there be spacing of desks or clear barriers between desks?
A: In order to comply with the Hybrid model that the schools within Beltrami County are currently listed as, reduced capacity and adequate spacing is required in all classrooms. We will be spacing the desks and moving any classes that exceed room/capacity to larger rooms to accomodate this. As of now, we are waiting for the results of our survey to get final counts of in-person students to see if classroom moves are needed.

Q: If we move to a schedule where not all students are present at the same time, will my children be able to be on the same rotation?
A: Yes, if we were to move to a partial week for students and rotate we would coordinate households so that the transportation would be stopping at the house only on that family's day(s) and to also limit exposure, having the same households only coming on that same day(s).

Q: If my students switch to an Online Academy (non-Distance Learning through Kelliher School) will they be able to return if it doesn't work out?
A: If the student is a resident to the Kelliher School District the student would be able to return at any time.

Q: Are high school classes all in the same room?
A: Because high school students have different schedules from one another even when in the same grade level we wouldn't be able to accomodate all grades in the same room the entire day.

Q: Will there be Phy. Ed. or Music?
A: Yes, safety accommodations will be made to be able to provide adequate distancing to provide these vital classes to students.

Q: Will staff be frequently tested for COVID-19?
A: Staff will be priority tested according to State guidelines when known exposure occurs or when any symptoms present themselves.

Q: Will children be screened?
A: We will be requiring initial daily screenings (symptom monitoring, temperature checks, etc.) at home by parent/guardian prior to boarding buses or entering the school building. Additionally, staff will be monitoring students throughout the day and performing additional screens/checks as needed.

Q: If my child has asthma and it is difficult for them to wear a face mask what other options are available to them?
A: Face shields have been purchased for students to accommodate those that would need that option to still provide a barrier. Additionally, the CDC does have a listing of medical conditions that may present an increased risk, which asthma is a part of that listing. Please click here to see the CDC recommendations on medical conditions for your consideration when choosing whether your student will be returning in-person or via Distance Learning.

Q: If my child opts for all Distance Learning but we decide in-person would be better at a later date can we switch back?
A: Yes, the transition can be made throughout the school year. If moving from Distance Learning to in-person we would ask to allow for time with transportation capacity arrangements, seating and classroom accommodations, etc.

Q: Are masks required for students?
A:  Yes, unless there is a medical, developmental, or behavioral condition face coverings will be required within the school building per the Governor's Executive Order 20-81 for the safety of other students and staff. There are a number of different options available that suffice for this requirement. More information will be provided in our detailed plan released no later than September 1.

Q: Who will be providing the masks for students?
A:  The school will be providing (2) washable masks per student as well as having disposable masks on-hand for when masks are forgotten or as needed. We also encourage parents/guardians to consider purchasing additional washable face masks for their students that are the best style/fit for their students and also in hopes that there will be less issues wearing one that the student chose themselves. We also encourage families to practice wearing masks with students prior to the start of school to get them used to the idea.

Q: Does everyone get free breakfast and lunch again this Fall similar to the Spring?
A:  Unfortunately no, the food service program was provided last spring will not be available to school districts this Fall - the normal paid or free/reduced program will be offered whether in-person, pick-up, or delivery. We are encouraging all families to fill out the free/reduced lunch application even if you didn't previously qualify as some financial situations may have changed since the last application filled out. Applications will be mailed out to households early August.
